EDWARD ANTHONY ZAHAR, 63, a member of First Presbyterian, DeLand, and a retired police officer for the Erie, Pa., Police Dept., died June 11, 2011. A memorial service and witness to the resurrection will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 4:30 pm in the church sanctuary. A reception will follow at the family home. Ed’s ashes will be transported to his and Grace’s hometown of Erie, Pa. Brugger Funeral Homes and Crematory in Erie, Pa. is in charge.

The family has requested memorials for Ed to be given to First Presbyterian, DeLand or the Amyloidosis Foundation, Inc. 7151 N. Main Street, Suite 2, Clarkston, MI 48346. (www.amyloidosis.org) Amyloidosis is the name of the rare disease from which Ed suffered and died.
