DONALD THOMAS STIFF, 91 years of age, passed away on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at his home in Deland, FL. He was born Nov. 24, 1920 in Ridgefield, NJ. He served in the Army Air Corps (1942-1945). He was stationed for most of his military service in Sookerating, India, flying over the Himalaya Mountains (aka the "HUMP"). He received several service awards including the distinguished flying service cross.

In 1945, he married Mildred "Pam" Vanderwood of Ridgewood, NJ, in Coral Gables, FL. After discharge of his military service, he began a long and successful career in commercial aviation, flying for United Airlines.

He was predeceased by his son, Donald; and is survived by his wife Pam; three sons, their wives and six grandchildren. He will be missed profoundly by his family, friends and beloved beagle Capt. Black, and will be fondly remembered as a true gentleman and caring, compassionate man.
