Marjorie A. Johnson, 83, of Nutmeg Circle in DeLand, FL passed away peacefully on May 28, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family, following a recent battle with cancer.
Born on September 20, 1927 in Bridgeport, CT, she graduated from Scotia High School in New York. A 38 year resident of Kinderhook, NY Marjorie retired from National Union Bank of Kinderhook and moved with her husband to DeLand in 1988.An active member of the Kinderhook Dutch Reformed Church and the First Presbyterian Church in DeLand, she was an avid reader who enjoyed playing cards. She was an enthusiastic golfer who was a member of both the Women's Golf League and the Couple's Golf League at Southridge Golf Club.
Survivors include her husband, Earl A. Johnson, whom she married on September 04, 1948; a daughter, Susan Johnson-Buniak and son-in-law, Ken Buniak of Clifton Park, NY; a son, Kevin and daughter-in-law, Margaret Hover of Chatham, NY; a son, Mark and daughter-in-law, Lauren of Sarasota, FL; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by daughter, Linda Johnson-Bancroft.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 11 at the First Presbyterian Church in DeLand with the Rev. Michael Bodger officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of DeLand, or the charity of ones choice. Interment will be this Summer in Kinderhook, NY. Arrangements are with Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand, FL.
