
Henry A. Hassell, 92, of Orange City, died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the Fish Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hassell was born August 24, 1918 in Providence, RI, eldest son of Archibald and Florence Braman Hassell. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II, where he was a member of the Seabees, and was stationed in Hawaii and the Phillippines.
Following his return home from World War II, he was a painting contractor. He was a member of the P.D.C.A, moderator of the Central Congregational Church in Newtonville, Mass., Past President of the Flagler/Palm Coast Kiwanis Club, and also taught faux painting at the Adult Education Center in Palm Coast and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, the former Elizabeth Higgins, whom he married February 14, 1942; three daughters, Judith (Robert Lee) Reynolds of Jefferson, GA; Nancy (Kenneth) Berggren of Naples, FL; Linda Jodrey of Palm Coast; two brothers, Frank (Marjorie) Hassell of Sarasota and Theodore (Flo) Hassell of Helmet CA.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, July 24th at 3 p.m. at John Knox Village, Orange City, FL. Arrangements are being handled by the Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
