Jan Sutherland
Born in Rome, Georgia on September 3, 1947.
After working in the textile industry until it closed,
Jan and her mother, June, opened a florist business.
Here, she developed
her flower arranging skills.
During her youth she and her cousin
made many trips to the Boardwalk in Daytona Beach.
After closing the flower shop,
it was only fitting that she move to Florida.
She worked at the Stetson Flower shop,
putting her talents to good use.
Later, Jan was hired by the City of DeLand to work as a parking enforcement officer.
This is when she met Dave.
After their marriage, Dave converted her from a “Southern Baptist”and she joined the First Presbyterian Church.
Jan was an ordained Deacon, taught Sunday School, and served faithfully on the Diaconate for several years.
